Located in Quang Binh Province to the north of the Central Coast region of Vietnam, the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park was designated a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2003.

Only recently opened up to tourism, Phong Nha has yet to experience the development of other areas in Vietnam, and offers an authentic, off-the-beaten-track experience that is becoming harder to find in Southeast Asia.Consisting of some of the oldest karst mountains in Asia, the whole area is peppered with over 300 cave systems, including the recently opened Son Doong Cave, the biggest cave in the world.
The area was hit hard during the Vietnam War and due to high levels of unexploded ordnance still present in the Park, independent exploration is not encouraged. But treks, bike rides, boat trips and cave tours of all varieties can be easily arranged.
